GOSFORD JUNIOR CRICKET CLUB
Welcome to the Gosford Junior Cricket Club Website, home of the Junior Redbacks! Here you’ll find everything you need to know about the Junior Club, including contacts, coaching and training details, links to My Cricket statistics and other cricket websites, rules, draws, photos, information on upcoming social events, minutes of our committee meetings and latest results.
In the upcoming 2011-2012 season, Gosford Junior Cricket Club will be fielding teams from the Under 9’s through to the Under 14’s, comprising around 100 players. Our Under 9 teams compete in the Super 8’s competition every Thursday, whilst we also have teams in the Under 10’s, 11’s, 12's, 13's and 14's age groups, which provide the stepping stone to our senior Club. In addition to these teams, the Club also runs an “In2cricket” programme for 4 – 7 year olds, which is held on a Tuesday afternoon at Fagan Park, Point Clare usually from around 5pm. Anyone interested in joining any of our teams would be most welcome and can contact our chairman or secretary for details of how to join up.
Last season, five of our seven Saturday teams made the semi finals, with our both our Under 11A's and Under 13B's going on to win the competition. Our home grounds are Terry Oval at Springfield and Adcock Park West Gosford. We also have practice facilities and a clubhouse at Fagan Park Point Clare, which is the home ground of our 1st and 2nd grade senior teams.
Registration for all Junior Redback teams will take place this season on 3 consecutive Saturdays. The first will be held in conjunction with a season launch BBQ on Saturday 20th August at Officeworks West Gosford. Day 2 will be Saturday 27th August at Coles West Gosford and day 3 on Saturday, 3rd September in front of Bendigo Bank at the East Gosford shops. If you can't make any day, plesae contact the chairman or secretary via this website or by phone to provide us with your son or daughter's name so we can include them in one of our teams.
Our Club focuses on participation and enjoyment, but at the same time developing our kid’s skills to enable them to play competitive cricket with a view to encouraging their progression to representative level. Gosford Junior Cricket Club abides by a code of conduct for players, parents and coaches alike, which ensures that those people involved with the Club act appropriately at matches, and at all other times when representing the Club. We also pride ourselves in playing the game in the right spirit to ensure the tradition of cricket is maintained and enjoyment maximised for both us and our competitors.
Our major sponsors for the 2011-2012 season are again Bendigo Bank (East Gosford, Lisarow and Kincumber), Retire Australia (owners and operators of Tarragal Glen, Forresters Beach, Glengara and Woodglen Retirement Villages), FX in Glass and James Ryan and Associates Accountants at Wyoming. Their assistance is greatly appreciated and is vital to the running of our Club.
